About Us

We are all busy performers, collaborators and teachers. In fact our members have performed in almost every conceivable venue in southern Alberta. As educators, we work with students ranging from beginners to university level. We appear regularly on-stage with the Red Deer Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Calgary Opera, Symphony of the Kootenays, and many other ensembles.

Lucie Jones, flute
Founder of the MRU Flute Choir and Flute Club of Calgary, Lucie has had a varied career as teacher, computer programmer, and member of Symphony Nova Scotia before taking her current place in the Calgary music community. In addition to many performances with the CPO, she has performed as a soloist with the Red Deer Symphony, and serves as the RDSO principal flute.

Aura Pon, oboe
Aura has a PhD in computational media design and is a researcher of connection between music and electronics. She is the inventor of the Woomba, the first prenatal musical instrument. In addition to her busy performance career, she is also active as a composer.

Ilana Dahl, clarinet
The original driving force behind the special mixture of art and science which are the hallmark of our school shows, Ilana has two decades of experience performing and teaching in the Calgary area.  Longtime principal in the Red Deer Symphony, she has also been featued in several performances of the Land's End Ensemble and appears on their recording "Gravity & Grace."

Daryl Caswell, horn
One of the original members of the Red Deer Symphony, Daryl has had a parallel career as member of the faculty at the Schulich School of Engineering. He has worked as an acoustical consultant, invented a musical instrument, and has built a number of tools for the music industry.

Perfect Cadence member Jonathan Gresl

Jonathan Gresl, bassoon
Animated by sharing enthusiasm for his ancient instrument, Jonathan has performed with the Calgary Opera, Timepoint Ensemble and is the principal bassoon of the Symphony of the Kootenays and Rocky Mountain Symphony.
